I am Mekander, your mentor. It is encouraging that you have answered our call so soon. There still is valor and sense for adventure in Karigor!
And an adventure it will be, you can be sure of that.</text>

      <npc>
        <reply>
          <text>It is a secret mission, so you can understand that we have to be very careful. There may be only one chance, and we must make sure that you are up to the task.
That is why we have planned a short test of promise and loyalty. When you have passed the test, and are accepted by the High Seer, you will receive your instructions.</text>

      <text>We agree to take the test. What are the conditions?</text>
      <npc>
        <reply>
          <text>The test comes in five parts, addressing all the essential wits and skills. You can do them in any order, but you have to succeed in everything in order to pass.
The first thing you must do, is to hunt down and kill the goblins that are making the forest unsafe.
Your second task is to catch a songbird. One was spotted near the town a few days ago, so this shouldn't be too hard.
The third quest is a tricky one. There are some archeologists at Mt. Pilanteko that are arguing about the existence of Centaurs in this world, magical creatures of old fairytales. You are to find proof of their creation. The museum guide knows of your coming.
The fourth thing you must do, is to find a holy seashell. It would help if you can swim.
The fifth and final job is to retrieve the Elemental Orb for us from Dusk's Cave in the land of the ogres. Beware, as there may be wild ogres afoot.</text>

      <text>What is troubling the Seers, Lord Mekander?</text>
      <npc>
        <reply>
          <text>A while ago, a prophet from elsewhere, by the name of Thelmes, came to visit Serenity. We allowed him to stay and study with us. Soon after, he began to proclaim a disturbing message. He prophecises that the world is in danger, that devils will come and threaten our very existence. He says that the churches of Sun and Moon must bind and get ready to make a great sacrifice, so Ceth the Creator will appear and fight the horror.
We do not know what to make of that, because ever since he first spoke these words our attempts to look far enough into the future have failed. And now he has left town and is spreading his prophecy among the commonfolk everywhere along the river, gathering believers by the day.</text>

        <reply>
          <text>When we summoned the leaders of the Churches of Sun and Moon for a conference, it became clear very quickly that they were not interested in finding the truth. So many years it is after the war of Dove and Crow, and still they embrace every opportunity to disturb the balance, rather than fight for a mutual interest.</text>

      <npc>
        <reply>
          <text>There is only one path: to gather again the words of power, the Book of Ceth itself, which was scattered long ago for good reasons. The seven Chapters have all been hidden, their whereabouts forgotten.
This is your mission, which has to be carried out as stealthily as possible, to find these Chapters again, so that we relearn about Ceth and thereby of what may be in store. You will have to ask permission from the lords of the lands to search for them in every corner.
Meanwhile, it is of the utmost importance that you follow Thelmes along the river and listen well to every major speech.</text>
